These final days of August…

I'm thinking of home.

In April I went home to Kansas — the state in which I grew up — to help my 90-year-old mother move into an assisted living apartment.

In June, and then in July, I returned to Kansas to help my siblings divide her (story laden) possessions and clean out the place she/we called home for the past 14 years. (Our original-childhood home burned to the ground in 2005.)

During these same months, in my Chicago studio, we’ve (finally) begun assembling an edition of the handmade paper doll books that are part of the Dream House Collection works: a fictionalized autobiographical tale of a young girl (and a phantom house) coming of age — in Kansas…

I’d like to share these stories with you. A compiled version of the texts found in these paper doll books (and their accompanying hand-assembled panels) is available in a 72-page, signed and numbered limited edition volume: The View From a House in Kansas, Acts One to Five, A Text-only Compilation Complete with Paper Doll. It can be purchased for $20 directly from me at my Chicago studio or ordered from my website here. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
